In 1956, under the visionary leadership of Haji S.A. Jiffri, P.I. Kunjahammad Kutty Haji, Haji P.P. Hassan Koya, C.P. Kunhammad, S. Imbichi Koya Haji, Haji K. Hassan Koya, and Dr. M.K. Muhammad Koya, the Kozhikode Educational Society was formed. Its primary mission was to empower girls through education. This vision led to the establishment of Calicut Girls’ High School at Kundungal.

The school opened its doors on 4th August 1958 with just 26 students. Over the years, it has grown steadily to become one of the most populated schools in Kerala. In 1992, the Vocational Higher Secondary School (VHSE) was introduced, offering quality education and practical training in two skill courses. Today, 120 students are enrolled in these vocational courses.

In 2000, the Higher Secondary School was established, providing education in Humanities, Science, Commerce, and Computer Science. Currently, 600 students are enrolled across these streams. The school currently accommodates students from 5th to 12th grade, with a total enrolment of 2,500 students, supported by a dedicated team of 106 teachers and 10 non-teaching staff.

Originally founded to educate girls, the school has become a source of pride for the entire community. While its foundation laid a strong base, the successors of the founding committee were not content with just growth in numbers. The current management committee, led by Dr. Ali Faisal and Manager P.S. Assankoya, has made quality education its priority. Their dedication has earned Calicut Girls’ Vocational and Higher Secondary School the distinction of being the first NABET-accredited school in Kerala’s government and aided sector—a milestone that fulfils the dreams of the school’s founders.

The leadership team, including Higher Secondary Principal Mr. Abdu M, Headmistress Mrs. M.K. Zainaba, and HSS (Vocational) Principal Mrs. Sreedevi P.M remains committed to preparing the institution to face future challenges and continue its legacy of excellence.
