In the early 1900’s Thekkepuram witnessed two major events, establishment of Himayathul Islam School in 1912, and MadrasathulMuhammadiya School in 1918which occurred at a time the community was lagging far behind from mainstream education. The educational quest for girls still remained unaddressed till the mid of the 20th century.

In 1956, a group of philanthropists (Haji Sayed Ali Jiffri, Haji S ImbichiKoya, C.P Kunhammad, Haji K Hassan Koya, Haji P.I KunhammadKutty, Haji P.P Hassan Koya, and Dr. M.K Muhammad Koya) constituted an organisation named Kozhikode Educational Society. The focus was the empowerment of minority girls through education. This thought culminated in the establishment of Calicut Girls’ High School, at Kundungal, in on a land donated by JanabKunhiMayin Haji, promoter of Western India Plywoods, an educationist, and a business man.

The School started functioning on 4th August 1958 with a strength of 26 and today it has grown to become one of the premier institute in Kerala. Vocational Higher Secondary School was started in the year 1992. The Higher Secondary section was commenced in the year 2000. Currently there are over 2500 girl studentsfrom Primary level to High School, Higher Secondary and Vocational Higher Secondary. There are 130 dedicated staff in the school.

Dr. Ali Faizaland K.V Kunahammed, the President and Secretary/Manager respectivelyof the School Managing Committee along with other members, School Staff and PTA strive to take this institution to the highest level as Centre of Excellence.
